It is a warm Saturday afternoon in a tiny Norfolk farming community during the summer of 1938. War threatens, and a young couple is marrying in the historic village church, but the woman soon finds herself led by unforeseen and sometimes shocking circumstances to explore the enigma of her own sexuality. And central to her private dilemma is a simple pot of marmalade.
