The Duke will marry his wartime rival, the Queen of the Amazons. In the meantime, "the course of love never did run smooth." And will the squabbling fairy royals ever get around to blessing the nuptial beds? The 'mechanicals' entertain the wedding party with a butchered version of the the Romeo and Juliet story. At the conclusion mischievous Puck begs the audience's forgiveness and promises amends.
