Athletic collegiate recruitment can be a very stressful time for a player and his family. The recruitment process is a lengthy and sometimes it feels like you are on a roller coaster. There will be a lot of rejection and "sorry, not interested," but to live out your dream all you need is one YES! There are several beneficial companies/programs out there to aid in the recruitment process and some players are blessed with a coach/trainer who will step up and help during this process. Whether you are getting outside help or not, it is absolutely vital for you to take ownership in your own recruitment. Just playing high school ball, club ball, and relying on a third party to get you a scholarship is not enough. At the end of the day, you are the one that wants to play college basketball and no one will be as passionate about your future dreams as YOU! From my experience, if you are not one of the top players in the nation, you will have to sell yourself to the colleges and coaches. You can't sit back, wait, and hope they find you, but instead you must be proactive, market yourself, and recruit them.
