This novel provides an introspective view of life as a JAG attorney in the US Army. The journey begins with a detailed look at the life and role of this special breed of military officer. CPT Matthew Fields is a military prosecutor torn between a sense of duty to his loved ones and to his sense of justice. The reader becomes entrenched in the emotional turmoil inherent in prosecuting the men and women who fight our nation's wars. CPT Fields' sense of duty is strained when he finds himself defending a young soldier accused of killing his superior officer while on patrol in an Iraqi city. Friends become enemies, and each character's dilemma with duty and loyalty is put on display. The events proceed from life in garrison, deployment to Iraq, a ceremonious return home, to the drama that plays out before a military court-martial. This novel puts in focus an internal struggle that too often remains hidden beneath the facade of military justice.
