It is a pleasure to welcome another book from Annette Merle Cleveland. If you have followed her work, you will find A Cave In The Bazaar a refreshing detour and journey, because while she is consistent in discussing absolute truth in a simple and appealing manner, this time she has exposed another side of her personality and experiences. It is almost as if one day she woke up and said I am going to write a fairytale, and call it A Cave In The Bazaar. But this is no fairytale. Annette's ability to present absolute truth so simply is unique and charming. A Cave In The Bazaar is an amusing and light story in which Annette presents truth in an easily understood context, without losing any of the astute quality she so successfully presents in all her work. This book is a work of fiction. Or is it? It is certainly presented as fiction, but with truth woven like the fine threads of a Kashmiri carpet through every word. The story revolves around a cultured businessman called Ahmed who owns a shop in a bazaar in Kashmir. Ahmed is quiet and unassuming, but there is more to him than one can glean in just one meeting. Ahmed points out that he and Annette are the same "colour" and together they explore the mysteries of the universe through dialogue and meditative experience. This is another enjoyable reading experience from Annette. You can partake of the offerings of absolute truth and ruminate over them, while not feeling overwhelmed with heavy material and dialogue. A great book to read and share.
