Sixth in the Family Saga Series, A Doctor from Celery City is about Johnny Madison, a doctor from Civil War Days that establishes a hospital in Celery City near Kalamazoo, MI in the 1880s. His nephew, Willy goes to medical school in Chicago but has to leave with his wife, a former owner of a brothel. They return to Celery City where Willy studies with his uncle Johnny and eventually is the head doctor there. Willy's mother, Chloe finally finds happiness with Paul and marries. The antics of Megan and Dave dot the novel with much humor. Townspeople cope with the inventions of the days like telephones and the horseless carriage.
