في أواخر مرحلة الإمامة الزيديّة في صنعاء والاحتلال البريطاني في عدن، يُفضي تحالفٌ معقود بين مشايخ القبائل اليمنيّة وبعض فقهاء الدين إلى تسلّط الطرفين على رعيّة مستضعفين، وشريحة أخرى من المهمَّشين يُطلق عليهم لقب أخدام أو عبيد.يحاول بعض هؤلاء التمرّد على واقعهم، فيجابَهون بالقمع وببطش شديد. يفرّ منهم من يفرّ إلى الغابات الكثيفة في الجبال المحيطة، ويبدأ من هناك فعل المقاومة. ينظّمون صفوفهم ويبدأون بشنّ هجمات ليليّة على مزارع المشايخ. تنجح تلك الهجمات بداية الأمر في زعزعة مكانة المشايخ وأعوانهم من الفقهاء، لكنّ الرهان صعب، فتحالف القبيلة والدين يشكّل حلقة يستحيل كسرها.كما الحبّ الممنوع بين عدنيّ حرّ وفتاة من الأخدام...In the late stage of Zaidi Imamate in Sana'a and the British occupation in Aden, a binding alliance between Yemeni tribal leaders and some religious scholars results in the dominance of both parties over a vulnerable population and another marginalized group referred to as ""Akhdam"" or slaves. Some of these individuals attempt to rebel against their reality, only to be met with repression and severe brutality. Those who manage to escape seek refuge in the dense forests of the surrounding mountains, where they begin to form their resistance. They organize their ranks and initiate nocturnal attacks on the tribesmen's farms. Initially, these attacks succeed in destabilizing the power of the tribal leaders and their allies among the religious scholars, but the challenge is difficult, as the alliance between tribe and religion forms an unbreakable bond, similar to the forbidden love between a free Adeni man and a woman from the Akhdam...
