Arthur Edward Waite (2 de octubre de 1867- 19 de mayo de 1942) está considerado como uno de los mayores estudiosos y expertos en ocultismo y esoterismo de los últimos tiempos. Perteneció a diversas órdenes secretas, como la Masonería, la Rosacruz y la Golden Dawn, y se destacó por su profundo conocimiento de la Cábala y las tradiciones místicas occidentales.

Aunque escribió numerosas obras, su legado más famoso fue la creación del mazo de Tarot que lleva su nombre, una contribución que lo consagró a nivel mundial.
