رفعت السيّدة يديها وأومأت إلينا جميعًا، كي نصعد الدرجات الفاصلة بيننا. ثمّ دعتنا للجلوس حولها. وظلّ شعرها حبالًا رماديّة اللون، تتموّج حول وجهها، تكاد تخفي تفاصيله، مستثنية العينين، الحادّتي النظرات كعيني صقر. انتظرنا بوجل وقد جلّلنا الصمت. وملأ أنفسنا رهبةً منظرها، وأنوار القمر تنهمر، فتزيدنا صمتًا وخشوعًا. ولم تعد روزينا تلك ""الغريبة الأطوار""، المقيمة في عزلة كوخها، تسامر القطط والعصافير. لم تعد المعتزلة مقاطعة الجنس البشريّ حتّى آخر حدود العلاقة... فقد بدت، في تلك اللحظات. سيّدةً حكيمةً، رهيبةً، ممتلئةً معرفة، قابضةً على مفاتيح الأسرار. وتحرّكت شفتاها تقصّان علينا حكاية الليالي الغجريّة... We waited in awe, and silence adorned us. We filled ourselves with a sense of reverence in her presence, as the moonlight cascaded down, deepening our silence and solemnity. No longer was Rosina that ""eccentric stranger,"" residing in the seclusion of her cottage, engaging in conversations with cats and birds. She no longer isolated herself from human contact to the extreme. In those moments, she appeared as a wise, formidable lady, brimming with knowledge, holding the keys to secrets. Her lips moved, narrating to us the tales of Gypsy nights...
