AMY AND THE RAINBOW BIRD is the story of 8-year old Amy Landon, who, after the loss of her father and sister in an accident, lives with her mother in a little house on a small peninsula. Money is tight, and life is full of hardships, but despite all disadvantages, Amy retains her sweet and innocent personality. When a little, colorful bird appears on her bedroom window sill one morning, Amy's life takes an unexpected turn. Because of the bird's premonition, she is able to save Stuart, the school's bully and her sworn enemy, from a fatal accident. Against all odds, Amy and Stuart develop a secret friendship that is put to the test when the Rainbow Bird appears again to warn Amy of an impending catastrophe at her school. With the help of Stuart and his friend Paul, the unlikely trio manages to prevent a huge disaster. The novel addresses some of today's pressing topics like school bullying, and economic hardships. The encounters with the mystical bird create suspense and build up a curiosity that engages the reader and make AMY AND THE RAINBOW BIRD a "want to read novel" for kids ages 6-14.
