The protagonist, a young U. S. Marine Non-Commissioned Officer stationed at Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii, who is also a part-time college student, is seeking an easy "A" in Windward Community College English class. He receives pragmatic and inspirational life lessons from the curious, though very special, professor he encounters in Creative Writing 101. He learns to pay attention and follow direction. He learns that God's truths are expressed in many different forms of literature transcending eras and cultures. He learns that God grants His grace through diverse gifts to His children, and dispenses His love through their service and respect to each other.
