Annie Mae Jenkins is a 16-year-old high school dropout living in a housing project with her mother and four brothers. The backdrop of this novel like the others is centered on a fragile family structure with all of the trappings of a public housing project. Through the pen of the author you will meet a young girl, a 16-year-old high school dropout and her Gangsta brother, both trapped in a reality ruled by chaos. An eerie relationship of sadness, sorrow and joy is projected by the author as she introduces you to their family, friends and peers. The question that will emerge after reading this lifestyle novel is whether this is a work of fiction or is it reality cloaked in fiction.
