The book began as a way to share the significant findings of my doctoral research with the wider business community. At a time when companies face constant and rising threat of a costly breach of their data in the cloud, it was critical that the results of the academic research were articulated for the benefit of individuals and cloud user organizations. Despite its theoretical orientation, the book provides real-world examples of specific steps users and organizations can take to avoid a breach of their data in the cloud. The book also features detailed steps of the research process along with an extensive coverage of the underlying literature. A complete explanation of the methodological approaches, data sources, and the research design that were used to conduct the study are also provided. The information provides the reader with enough background information of the research and the reasons the research was conducted the way it was conducted. The findings of the research are presented as is and without alteration of any kind. I have added my own explanations and comments on the significant findings of the research and in some cases, related them to real-world scenarios. Nevertheless, the book retains the original extensive references to other empirical studies that underlie the research.
