A product of the fifty-year marriage between an artist and a poet, Body Language pairs 15 captivating, unexpected prints of the human figure with the 15 carefully crafted poems inspired by them. The prints are impressionistic and creative yet precise, evoking both physical poses and emotional presence. The poems portray a reality that is solid and tied convincingly to each of the models, and at the same time convey a delicacy that gives the models a touching vulnerability. The prints and poems together create in each other new meanings and insights not captured in the art or poetry alone. Paired, they form a contemplative invitation to reconsider the expression and interpretation of body language. Five of the figures from Body Language have been selected for juried exhibits throughout New England. The book and cover design of Body Language was created by the Herzbergs' granddaughter, Cassie Gonzales, recent graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
