According to a Yoruba adage, "gbogbo alangba lo danu dele, a ko mo eyi ti in unrun" (all lizards have their stomachs on the ground, one does not know which one suffers stomach ache). You have no idea of what someone is going through or what is going on in someone's life until the person begins to share. But how will the person share if there is no one to listen? How will there be someone to listen if no one is present or approachable? How will someone be approachable if one is not available? This whole concept of CBC is a kind of an outreach where instead of the clients looking for counselors or therapist, it is the mental health counselors, pastoral counselors, addiction counselors, or pastoral worker reaching out to those who may be in need of help but not seeking it. Using the Cab or Taxi as a Therapeutic Setting, The Helper wears the dual role of the Driver and a Counselor engaging in Cab Brief Counseling which begins and ends with the ride.
