Reseña del libro "Counting Bugs / Aambe Gindaasdaa Mnidooshag (en Inglés,)"

A counting book that introduces insects, written in English AND Ojibwe!

Start counting with your little one in both English and Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe.

Let’s count to ten as we tour Mishoomis and Nokomis’ garden and learn about the types of insects that help our plants grow!

A 1–10 counting book that introduces insects, written in English and Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe.

Key Selling Points:

A dual-language counting board book with numbers 1–10 written in English and Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe, one of North America’s most spoken Indigenous languages. Publishing simultaneously in a French and Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe edition.
Each page contains the English vocabulary and the Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe vocabulary for the numbers and bug names.
The Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe words have a pronunciation key underneath on each page and the final pages contain a glossary with the meanings of all of the Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe words.
Written by an Anishinaabe author and educator, this colorful book is a welcoming introduction to the Ojibwe language and worldview, perfect for families and early learners on their language journey.
Encourages curiosity in nature and the outdoors. Children will practice their numbers in two languages while also learning the vocabulary for ten different bugs.
A gentle, multigenerational story about two young siblings exploring their Nokomis (grandmother) and Mishoomis’s (grandfather) garden. When the kids have a question about snails, they go find their Mishoomis for help!
A longtime educator and artist, this is Gretchen Sands-Gamble’s debut book for children. She submitted the book for consideration as part of the Second Story Press Indigenous Writing Contest.
Illustrator Storm Angeconeb is a mixed media artist who does painting and beading. She is the previous author and illustrator of the dual-language board book All My Relatives / Indinawemaaganidag (Native Northwest 2024).
