The United States economy has collapsed quickly and caused what is now being referred to as "The Crash". This event will prove to be a test to our nation and the individuals in this story. The main charter is a former Army mechanic who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and alcoholism. It is only after the alcohol runs out due to shortages that he is finally able to get sober. The years of self abuse have taken a toll on him and he finds himself far from his family and friends. He sets off on foot to reach them. Along his way he befriends a single mother and her daughter. A side story follows a career criminal who seeks to get his revenge on those he feels did him wrong. The criminal thrives in the new economy as he attempts to build his own empire.
