Some unusual pollution has been showing up in the normally pristine waters of Lake Oswego for several years now. The cleanup efforts by the city have not been fruitful and the scientific explanation offered by the Portland newspaper makes no sense. The Shadow Club decides to investigate the situation and write an article themselves. In the process, they inadvertently uncover a decades old industrial dumpsite on the shore of the lake with ties to the mafia and potentially several unsolved murders. Seth, Travis, Greg and Gunther quickly discover that their lives and even the lives of their families are at risk. They need to somehow completely hide their tracks before the wrong people find out what they've uncovered. Meanwhile, The EPA and the FBI have gotten involved and they're being assisted by Hike Strangerson. Seth and the Shadow Club desperately need to stay in the shadows while they clandestinely continue their own efforts to bring the guilty parties to justice. Death on the Lake is the third installment in the Shadow Club series.
