Deception only works if it does not appear to be wrong or false, at least on the surface to begin with. If something is obviously wrong or false to begin with, most people would not believe it. When using a compass in the woods, it doesn't' take very long to understand that being off course by just a degree or two can get a person very lost, very quickly. The enemy of our souls wants to steal, kill and destroy. Destruction can come from just a degree or two of error from the real truth, the deception only needs to get you off track that little bit. The further you get down that "off track," the further from the truth your beliefs become. The deceptions described within this book are not all-inclusive of the means the devil uses, only some of the devices that are used that have been encountered frequently. Some of the devices will surprise you, and the simplicity of some of them may shock you, and the source of them may frighten some of you. God is not a God of chaos or confusion, and His meaning of things in the Bible is sometimes so simple that we gloss over it, missing it completely. Pray that God gives you discernment and understanding as you read.
