Autor y periodista inglés, Robert Harris estudió Literatura Inglesa en el Selwyn College de Cambridge, donde destacó por su activismo y su trabajo en el editor del periódico universitario, preludio de su posterior carrera en medios tan conocidos como The Observer o el Sunday Times, además de para la BBC, donde presentó los programas de actualidad Panorama y Newsnight.

En lo literario, Harris se dio a conocer como ensayista, publicando varios libros de investigación periodística, hasta que en 1992 logró un gran éxito mundial con Patria, ucronía donde la Alemania Nazi gana la Segunda Guerra Mundial. A partir de ese momento se dedicó casi en exclusiva a la escritura de novela histórica, con novelas como Enigma, El hijo de Stalin, Pompeya, Imperium o Conspiración.

Patria, Enigma, El escritor y El hijo de Stalin fueron llevadas al cine y la televisión con gran éxito.
