Donovan's Island is a great summer read, and a riveting adventure any time of the year. Max Velius, our protagonist takes his family away for a relaxing summer vacation on Donovan's Island, or so he thinks. Max practically grew up on Donovan's Island. His family spent every summer of his youth at their summer home on the island. The house, which had been built by his grandfather, was a majestic Victorian-style home that sat on the bluffs which overlooked the Atlantic Ocean. When he was young, Max spent endless hours in the turret, or crows nest as he called it, staring out at the ocean and dreaming of swashbuckling adventures and fair maidens. He hoped that this summer would be a healing salve to his malaise, but Max was about have the most adventurous summer of his life. Between an old flame, whom he hadn't seen in years but was still as beautiful as the last time he saw her, and an old friend he thought he'd lost, Max's plans for a tranquil summer were about to be torpedoed as he is swept up in a world of international intrigue and espionage.
