Flash Fiction While You Hunker Down offers readers a diverse selection of stories that are wholehearted, funny, sad and satiric. Most of the stories are less than a thousand words but they seem so complete on their own that you just never make the mistake of thinking for a minute that they are an hors-d'oeuvre for a lengthier form. The stories that feature in this volume have little or no thematic or stylistic consistency, but they are wickedly fresh and even thought provoking. 'The Albino' one of the longer stories in this volume, draws attention to the plight of Albinos whose body parts are used for rituals. 'North of the Border' is another long story that underscores the dangers of combating modern-day terrorism. Abiye has written this volume with pace, attention to detail and some delicious wit as is evidenced in stories like 'Kinky Sex' and 'The Match'. Both stories compel you to turn the pages faster and it is only at the end that you realise that you've been chuckling from the first paragraph.Whether you're into fast-paced thrillers, or more reflective tales, the stories in this volume are so diverse that you will find out that there's something for you.
