As a branch of cultural education in folklore, museum studies is a part of the educational system. Objects or exhibits of cultural value are kept in a museum. This also raises questions of communication, cultural mediation and educational work. Museums are places of education and experience. Museum studies help with the conception of exhibitions and guided tours and with accompanying materials for visitors.The study is divided into the conceptualization museum, functions, museum and home and learning in the museum. Basis are the completed courses on museum studies at the Institute of Folklore-European Ethnology/ University of Innsbruck in 2000 and a specialized literature.
