Pillar Betsy Doeth, the others Pillars, and government representatives are struggling to prioritize. Finally, there are people coming to them with newfound magical powers wanting help ... too many people. Can such a small group help to teach them all? 

If, as a group, they can't help them, where will the people go?

Meanwhile, a full town of people have the ability to imbue objects, a skill sought after by many in the galaxy. Once the commonality of this proficiency is widely known, how safe will Earth and its inhabitants be? Aliens have already taken interest in some of the population. 

The search for the Mayor's child continues. Betsy, Violet, and the girl's sister will travel the galaxy if they have to. They will consult enemies and even ask favors. As much as facing the very beings that started all their troubles is anathema to Betsy, she'll do anything to rescue the child.
