A stolen relic. A deadly secret. A journey from the marble halls of the Vatican to the heartland of America-where true healing demands the ultimate sacrifice.Scott Mester thought he was ready for anything. Armed with four years of high school Italian and training as a police explorer, he landed his dream job as a security guard at the Vatican. But nothing in his quiet upbringing in Sagamore Hills, Ohio, could have prepared him for his very first night on duty. When a band of heavily armed terrorists shatters the midnight silence of the holy city, priceless artifacts are stolen-including an ancient clay jar inscribed with cryptic Aramaic letters: dah-MOH shel yeh-SHOO-ah. In the bloody aftermath of the break-in, Scott is splashed with the jar's mysterious contents. Moments later, he discovers a terrifying, miraculous reality: he can absorb the mortal wounds and deadly illnesses of others into his own flesh. To survive taking on the agony of the dying, Scott must turn to the vessel's liquid to restore his own shattered body. But when the jar disappears and Scott absorbs a fatal affliction, he enters a desperate race against time across Rome to recover it before his own clock runs out. What follows is a sweeping, high-stakes journey of faith, truth, and spiritual transformation. Confronted by the Vatican hierarchy, accused of blasphemy, and hunted by his own past, Scott is forced to confront the deepest question of his life: Is his miraculous power tied to a physical relic, or does true restoration come only through relentless prayer, fasting, and surrender to the Almighty Healer?Healer is a rich, detailed, and deeply moving novel of spiritual suspense. Written with vivid, sensory detail and grounded in unshakeable faith, it explores the cost of compassion, the danger of religious tradition, and the limitless power of God's grace.
