Reseña del libro "Heaven and Hell (en Inglés)"

About the book, "HEAVEN AND HELL" Almost one half of this Book 25 of the Make My Day series, is devoted to "The Saga of Breastfeeding" an epic battle between the Unholy Trinity of Breastfeeding Advocates - Larry the Father, Elvira the Daughter, and Nona the Holy Skeleton - against the entire cabal of Milk Companies. It details the second part, The Milk Wars II, continued from a previous Milk Wars I in Book 24, "Salvation and Damnation." It reprints the special and rare White Paper of President Gloria Macapagal about how the Breastfeeding Movement triumphed during her administration. And it ends with the Nomination by the Secretary of Health Francisco T. Duque III. of Elvira L. Henares-Esguerra, MD, FPDS, FABM, IBCLC, RPh for the prestigious Prince Mahidol Award of Thailand (the award as usual went to clinical scientists instead of public health advocates). "Stage and Shadows" is the usual fare of Larry's writings - scripts of unfilmed home movies from earlier years: Big Brother, a fantasy about a bully who became a dictator; Mang Serapio, a special tribute to an author who might have been one of the nation's best if he did not surrender his mind and will to the Opus Dei, the Spanish Inquisition; a play staged for Larry's grandmother when she was chosen Mother of the Year; an oratorical piece by Atom Henares when he won second prize in the Voice of Democracy; an enchanting vignette from one of Jennifer Lopez's movies; and the many faces of Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot. "The Human Condition" is a potpourri of stories, of the miracle of two daughters; of remembrances of Edsa; of the musical resurrection of Enrico Caruso; of two rich men quarreling in a hotel lobby; of exploding novas and steady suns in our society; of carpetbaggers and their Filipino satraps; and above all, an epic speech by Nick Joaquin. But the piece de resistance are the personalities of Larry's world, whom you will discover in a new light: lawyer Tom del Castillo and his sweet dance with death; Baby Arenas, the Madame Pompadour/Madame Du Barry of our times; Earl Hornbostel, the American who became a Filipino; Jaime Cardinal Sin, the super-heroic Pinoy; Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on her way to her destiny; the irrepressible "insider" who is neither a pastor nor a boy nor a psycho. Read and enjoy. ------------------------------------------------------ Dr. Hilarion M. Henares Jr., known as Larry Henares, is a graduate of Ateneo de Manila, University of the Philippines, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an engineer, economist, educator, big businessman, writer, civic leader, public servant, and hobbyist (guns, books, amateur radio and electronics). He is a writer known for his essays on economics, history, art and culture, a front page columnist in the pre-martial law Manila Times and the most widely read column in the Philippines, according to all surveys, the daily "Make my Day" in the Philippine Daily Inquirer, after the EDSA revolt. -----------------
