Kōta Hirano (Adachi, Tokio, 14 de julio de 1973) es un mangaka japonés reconocido por su estilo audaz y oscuro, que combina acción, horror y elementos sobrenaturales. Comenzó su carrera como asistente de mangaka y autor de hentai, con obras como Angel Dust y Coyote (1995). Su primer gran éxito llegó con Hellsing (1997–2008), una serie de fantasía oscura y acción que consolidó su reputación internacional. Posteriormente, creó Drifters (2009), un manga de fantasía histórica que también ha sido bien recibido por el público.

Entre sus obras destacadas se encuentran Hellsing (1997–2008), Drifters (2009–presente), Hellsing: The Dawn (2001–2006), Coyote (1995) y The Legend of the Vampire Hunter (1996).
