Having Ongoing Positive Expectation is the second devotional written jointly by these authors who, following a similar format as the one used in the writing of their first book, share 30 true accounts of biblical characters. Applying these lessons to their own lives, they are able to show the presence of God in every situation. Repeating none from their first book and using each only once in this devotional, over 190 passages of scripture containing more than 350 different Bible verses can be found in this study. The two authors wrote one devotional a piece for each of these 15 topics which were chosen to guide them through the process of writing this devotional of HOPE: -Cost-Offense-Hesitation-Progression-Submission-Mentoring-Confusion-Adversity-Service-Anxiety-Dreams-Outcomes-Insufficiency-Disillusionment-Contentment Issues These topics aided to direct the writing of this book, which was inspired by the Ongoing Positive Expectation of helping others to see Him in the stories of their own lives. Holding onto this HOPE, they dove into the necessary research of characters and remembrance of similar lessons learned in their own individual lives in order to show the eternal relevance and practical application for all of us. The authors sincerely HOPE that this book will become a valuable tool used by its readers to reflect, learn and grow in their understanding of His word and its significance to their daily life. They also wish, as a result of this study, for each reader to find themselves Having Ongoing Positive Expectation about the purpose and plans He has for their own lives, which are as infinitely important as every Bible character ever recorded. H.O.P.E. IS A DEVOTIONAL that will encourage you, challenge you, and draw you to a deeper walk with God. The authors discuss hesitation, confusion, dreams, and outcomes that propel you to grow beyond where you are and develop a positive expectation. At certain points in reading the devotional, I was convicted and knew God was bringing me to a new level of commitment. At other times, certain phrases brought tears to my eyes, as I knew God had brought me to read this book just at this moment in my life when I needed to hear the authors' message. When I read the devotional on confusion and particularly, the story of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5, the author states "there is no amount of confusion I could ever encounter that has the power to overthrow His ability to see me". Wow! Jesus feels the faith of all of those who dare to place their ongoing hope in Him. This book helps the reader establish a firm grip on hope, even in the midst of trials. We can maintain a positive expectation in the midst of anxiety and fear. We can press through and trust in Him even when we feel stripped of all the resources we think we need to fight the battle. The questions posed at the end of each chapter are thought-provoking and lead you to deep contemplation. The prayers direct you to a new level of surrender. The authors' candor displays hope walked out in everyday life. This devotional is a journey-a journey that draws you deeper and further into a relationship with Christ...a journey of hope. April R.
