Sam grew up believing her mother had died by suicide. Now, twelve years later, she works the front desk at a hotel in her childhood hometown, also home of the infamous North Rock Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company plagued with mystery. 

Things heat up when North Rock Laboratories hosts its annual series of board meetings. Investors and board members from across the globe arrive at Sam's hotel, bringing their snobbish attitudes along with them. 

Sam, with the help of her unconventional friends, embarks on a little payback, but like a perfect storm, they soon start unraveling clues surrounding her mother's death.
