In 1999, I published a book entitled, "Am I There Yet?" I had recently been elevated to professor emeritus status at New Orleans Theological Seminary and could see my seventies approaching. This book explored a number of questions, from "Where have I been?" to "Where do I go from here?" Fifteen years have passed since then. I have been "there" a while now, so I have a much clearer idea what it means to be at the final stage of my developmental life. What I have learned is that, with a little care, this stage can be every bit as full and satisfying as all those which preceded it. I wrote "I Am There" to help people celebrate the privilege of advancing in years. The insights I offer are meant to show how a few deliberate choices involving attitude, behavior, perception, and priorities can contribute immensely to enjoying a high quality senior life.
