Clare Mackintosh es una autora británica nacida en Bristol, conocida por sus thrillers psicológicos y novelas de crimen. Antes de dedicarse a la escritura, trabajó durante doce años en la policía británica, desempeñándose en el Departamento de Investigación Criminal y como comandante de orden público. En 2011, dejó la fuerza policial para convertirse en escritora a tiempo completo. Es fundadora del Chipping Norton Literary Festival y actualmente reside en el norte de Gales con su esposo y tres hijos .

Su primera novela, Te dejé ir (I Let You Go), publicada en 2014, fue un éxito rotundo, convirtiéndose en el thriller debut más vendido de 2015 y ganadora del Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year en 2016.
