'In and of Itself' is Michael McInerney's early work, in which he explores the new found limitless boundaries of writing, and filled it with a cast of characters that seemed to be derived from the very depths of hell. This book is a series of short stories that helped build the foundation to Michael's future, unique writing style. This book follows in the same linear direction as Michael's writing experience in regard to where Michael started and the direction in which he took. This book starts with short, 'poems' that capture a glimpse into Michael's 'feelings' or 'mood'. Then goes on to short stories., which capture Michael's a glimpse into Michael's 'thoughts' and 'ideas'. And after this book he went on to explore writing his first full-length two-part novel, 'The Right Frame of Mind' (part one and two) that capture a glimpse into Michael's Frame of Mind' or 'way of thinking'.
