Human happiness cannot be achieved without the balance of these two forces./کلیسا کا تمدن اپنے ہمراہ جو مصیبتیں اور ناگواریاں لے کر آیا ہے ان کو قبول نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔ مغربی دنیا میں جتنے بھی ایجادات اور انکشافات زندگی کو سہل بنانے اور تمدن کو آگے بڑھانے کے لئے کئے گئے ہیں وہ انسانی تشویش و فکری پریشانی کو نہ تو دور کر سکے ہیں اور نہ ہی معاشرے کی خوش بختی و راحت کو واپس لا سکے ہیں۔ انسان مختلف جسمانی ضرورتوں کے علاوہ ایک روحانی تمنا بھی رکھتا ہے یعنی سعادت بخش زندگی کا پہلا مرحلہ اس وقت شروع ہوتا ہے جب انسانی فکر اپنی سیرت کامل میں مادی تمدن کے مرحلے سے گزر جائے اور روحانی قوتیں بروئے کار آ جائیں۔ ان دونوں قوتوں کے توازن کے بغیر انسانی سعادت حاصل نہیں کی جا سکتی۔
