Banking Chandra Chattopadhyay was born in 1838 in an orthodox Bengali family. He was an eminent Bengali novelist and poet. Bankim Chandra has shown the Indian human emotions in simple words. He has elaborated on issues of religion, society, caste and politics, Indian middle class family sees his image in his creations. These were the inspiration for the revolutionaries of Indian freedom struggle. This novel, kapalakundala, published in 1866, is one of the best and popular novels. The story is set in dariyapur, contai, where Bankim Chandra Chatterjee worked as a deputy collector. The novel is about the life of a forest dwellers named kapalakundla, who was in love with nabkumar, a young gentleman from saptagram. But she is unable to adjust to the life of the city. This novel has been published in many languages.
