This Special Issue addresses the growing need to understand how land systems are being reshaped by demographic ageing, gender inequalities, and accelerating socio environmental change. Current evidence shows that these processes are interconnected and require integrated approaches capable of explaining emerging vulnerabilities as well as new opportunities for more inclusive and sustainable territorial development. While research on land and gender has advanced significantly, the links between land, ageing, care, and environmental transformation remain underexplored.The articles compiled in this Special Issue deepen this interdisciplinary agenda by combining theoretical innovation with empirical studies from diverse regions and methodological traditions. Together, they offer updated perspectives on how land related dynamics intersect with social structures, demographic transitions, and environmental pressures. As the second volume in an ongoing research line, this Special Issue consolidates the foundations established previously and broadens the analytical scope. As a continuation of this research, the editors are promoting the development of a third Special Issue that will further expand comparative perspectives and policy oriented contributions. This Reprint thus strengthens an emerging field of inquiry that is essential for understanding contemporary socio environmental challenges.
