Ken Liu es un autor de ciencia ficción y fantasía nacido en la ciudad china de Lanzhou, pero afincado desde los 11 años en Estados Unidos, país cuya nacionalidad ostenta.

Por sus relatos ha recibido importantes galardones del género. Con su recopilación El zoo de papel y otros relatos obtuvo los premios Locus e Ignotus a la mejor antología de 2017, quedando finalista también del World Fantasy. Liu debutó en la novela con La gracia de los reyes, su primera obra publicada en castellano.

Además de escritor es traductor de obras del chino al inglés y, de hecho, es el traductor de Cixin Liu, uno de los autores chinos de ciencia ficción mejor valorados.

Laozi (también conocido como Lao-Tsé) fue un filósofo chino que habría vivido entre los siglos VI y IV a. C., aunque su existencia histórica exacta sigue siendo objeto de debate. Es considerado el fundador del taoísmo, una de las corrientes filosóficas y espirituales más influyentes de China.

Se le atribuye la autoría del Tao Te Ching, una obra breve pero profunda que propone vivir en armonía con el Tao (el “camino” o principio fundamental del universo). En este texto, Laozi defiende la simplicidad, la humildad y la acción sin esfuerzo (wu wei) como formas de alcanzar el equilibrio y la sabiduría.

Según la tradición, Laozi trabajó como archivista en la corte imperial de la dinastía Zhou y, desilusionado con la corrupción de la sociedad, decidió abandonar la civilización. Antes de partir hacia el oeste, un guardián le pidió que dejara por escrito su enseñanza, dando origen al Tao Te Ching.

Su pensamiento ha influido profundamente en la filosofía, la política y la espiritualidad de Asia, y sigue siendo una fuente de inspiración en todo el mundo.
