23-year-old, Bobby Craig, from the Fairchild Water Department, comes by to check Pearlie's water pipes on the same day she sits secluded on her porch. His unruly blond hair bobs as he takes giant steps up to meet her. Bobby's father, Leonard, fought in the Vietnam War. He brought the war home to his family, and it changed the course of their lives.

Last Breath Home is a multigenerational novel that tells the story of two families whose soldiers brought the war home. It is a story about the horrors of war, tragedy, redemption and ultimately triumph as seen through the eyes of Pearlie, Bobby, Peter, Edward and Eloise.
