$ 55.25This book is a supplement to Learning to Learn (Merete Hawkins, 2019) and it contains images which may be photocopied. It is a teaching resource for the key skill areas of matching, sorting, seriation, and coding. It contains all the activities illustrated in the main book as well as many extension activities.
Learning to Learn describes how children's cognitive capacities develop by active doing, at the early levels children learn through play with objects, whereas at the more advanced levels other visual materials in the form of printed images can be used. The images in this book are linked directly to the framework in Learning to Learn; the many bonus sets aim to broaden the learning experiences at each level and may also inspire the facilitators to create different sets of their own.
In the Learning to Learn book, there are detailed descriptions on how to facilitate the child's learning from the early stages, to the higher level 3 learning to learn capacities which are targeted here. This higher level is described on page 76 onwards, with details about matching from page 79, sorting can be found on page 91, teaching techniques for seriation starts on page 105, and coding on page 140. These chapters are essential background to understand how to use this image resource which will help the child's understanding of the world to grow.
