What is love? In answering this question, this book neither loses sight of love's diversity, nor reduces its richness by definitional fiat. The limits of classical attempts to understand love are scrutinized and a new model of love is developed. Based on a general theory of how something is important to us only through emotions, the work emphasizes the emotional character of love. Thus, the book shows that love exists on three levels - as a love attack, as a pattern of emotions and as a meta-emotion.
