It is in these poems that he memorializes the inspiration he draws from these experiences that enrich his life and those who never tire of standing in the waves looking beyond the horizon.To Maia, creating art is akin to breathing. The work she makes derives from many sources-pre-existing texts, dreams, memories, and nature, to name a few. She approaches art the same way she approached playing as a child-exploratory and whimsical.The poems Joe wrote resonated with her experience growing up in Narragansett, Rhode Island-from sunburnt beach trips with her family to sea-scented walks through the woods.
