Since these methods require complex computer programming to treat the time-varying free surface boundary and as computational mesh needs to be updated at every time step, use of sigma - transformation for treating the liquid free surface has gained widespread popularity in recent years. Sigma transformation technique is simple, easy to implement and eliminates the need for re-meshing the computational domain at each time step. This technique was applied and found to produce good quality results for sloshing problems.
