Guy Gavriel Kay (Weyburn, 1954) es un escritor canadiense conocido por sus novelas de fantasía histórica, en las que fusiona elementos fantásticos con referencias a períodos históricos reales. En su juventud, colaboró con Christopher Tolkien en la edición de El Silmarillion. Su estilo narrativo se distingue por su profundidad temática y su enfoque en la complejidad de los personajes y culturas.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran El árbol del verano (1984), Fuego errante (1986), Tigana (1990) y Los leones de Al-Rassan (1995), todas dentro del género de la fantasía.
