Liu Zengren is the Director of the Lu Xun Research Center at Qingdao University (the first of its kind in China), Vice President of the Modern and Contemporary Branch of the Chinese Academic Association of Historical Literature, and Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook of Lu Xun Studies.
