After her fathers doctors practice burns down, Rose leaves home, drifting. She travels from town to town working odd jobs and helping when she can, but she doesn’t put down roots. She doesn’t form attachments.

Until one-day, she’s whisked away to the Royal palace, where the Prince confides that the King is ill, and he wants her to cure him.

Unable to refuse a request from royalty Rose begins working at the castle, researching, watching, trying to figure out what’s wrong. What she discovers is more than just an illness, but a conspiracy that threatens the stability of the kingdom.

Amid it all, she forms a connection with the Prince, one she does her best to ignore.
