Vera Brosgol es una autora e ilustradora nacida en Moscú en 1984 y radicada en Estados Unidos desde los cinco años. Formada en animación clásica en Sheridan College, ha trabajado en estudios como Laika, participando en películas como Coraline y Kubo and the Two Strings. Su primera novela gráfica, El fantasma de Anya (Anya's Ghost, 2011), recibió los premios Eisner y Harvey en 2012, así como el Cybils Award en 2011.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran Un verano inolvidable (Be Prepared, 2018), una novela gráfica autobiográfica sobre su experiencia en un campamento ruso, y Déjame en paz (Leave Me Alone!, 2016), que obtuvo una mención honorífica Caldecott en 2017. Su estilo combina humor, sensibilidad y una estética cuidada, abordando temas como la identidad, la pertenencia y la adolescencia.
