Elmore Leonard (1925-2013) fue un escritor y guionista estadounidense, reconocido como uno de los más destacados autores de novela negra contemporánea. Nacido en Nueva Orleans, Louisiana, sirvió en la Marina de los Estados Unidos durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial y luego estudió Literatura en la Universidad de Detroit. Comenzó su carrera literaria escribiendo novelas del oeste, pero posteriormente se especializó en el género de crimen y suspense, creando historias que exploran la complejidad de la naturaleza humana.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran "Hombre" (1961), "LaBrava" (1983), "Rum Punch" (1992) y "Tú ganas, Jack" (1996).
