Molecular Insight into Plant Bioactive Compounds (en Inglés) - Karolina Wojtunik-Kulesza

For millennia, the plant kingdom has served as a primary reservoir of therapeutic agents. The health-promoting efficacy of these botanical sources is driven by secondary metabolites, a diverse array of complex molecules including polyphenols, alkaloids, terpenoids and flavonoids. Originally synthesized to bolster plant defense against environmental stressors, these compounds exhibit potent biological activities, ranging from antioxidants and antimicrobial properties to cardiovascular regulation.

This Special Issue Reprint aimed to consolidate cutting-edge research and comprehensive reviews centered on the identification and characterization of these bioactive constituents. Including spanning chemistry, biology and pharmacy, that explore: Novel identification of previously unknown secondary metabolites; Advanced analytical methodologies for qualitative and quantitative assessment; Mechanistic evaluations of bioactivity through in vitro and in vivo models.

By bridging the gap between traditional botanical knowledge and modern molecular science, this collection seeks to highlight the evolving role of plant-derived compounds in global disease prevention and treatment.
