Did you hear that cry? It is loud and clear but few are listening and even fewer are addressing the issue. There is so much to know about why African American young men struggle so much in a society where we say that we are all equal. When does that equality begin and end? Should it ever end? I often question why there is a struggle so intense for them when America says we live in a democratic society where all are treated equal. A closer look was taken in our schools to see how African American males make sense of their learning. It was enlightening as well as informative to see the opposition as well as the opportunities later afforded them in their endeavors. This book prepares the heart and mind as to addressing the education of African American males in our "democratic" society. Listen to their voices, hear their cry and then answer the question; is equality present?
