My First Snare Drum for the Developing Student is designed to reinforce basic fundamentals in a student-friendly and fun format. The book can be used for individual or group study. All of the basic rudiments are covered in a variety of ways to stimulate muscle memory, technique and musicianship. My First Snare Drum will serve as an introduction to standard methodology, but uses a "fun" approach that will bridge the gap between the beginning band method and drum method, and more advanced techniques. One of the "fun" features of this book is the unique "groove" warm-up reinforces basic rudiments, by changing the accents to create "hip beats" - rudiments taken to a new level. Every fundamental is logically presented and provides an opportunity for students to make their own versions of all of the popular rudiments in the "Make-Your-Own" sections. There is also an emphasis placed on duet playing to help the student build ensemble skills by playing along with a teacher or friend.
