During the summer of 1972—a few short months after Nixon’s legendary visit to China—master historian Barbara W. BARBARA W. TUCHMAN (Nueva York, 1912-1989) fue historiadora y periodista. Inició su carrera colaborando con publicaciones como The Nation, War in Spain o New Statesman, y posteriormente desempeñó una amplia actividad docente en instituciones como la Universidad de Harvard y la de California. A pesar de haber publicado diversas obras, la fama le llegó con Los cañones de agosto (RBA, 2012), galardonada en 1962 con el prestigioso premio Pulitzer.
